Behind the Build: Crafting Our Sullo Console Table
Every Sullo Console Table starts the same way — with raw wood, a few sketches, and a clear vision. It’s one of those designs that perfectly blends simplicity and craftsmanship. The clean lines, slatted details, and solid feel make it a customer favorite. But what most people don’t see is how much goes into bringing one to life.
Here’s a peek behind the scenes at how we build each Sullo Console by hand in our shop.
1. Cutting the Parts
It starts with precision.
We cut every piece — the top, the legs, the front and back panels, and the bottom — one by one. Each cut has to be perfect because even a small mistake here can throw off the fit later on. This step sets the tone for the entire build.

2. Assembling the Frame
Once everything is cut, David gets to work assembling the console. He fits each panel carefully, making sure the angles line up and the frame sits square. It’s one of those satisfying moments where a pile of wood suddenly starts to look like a piece of furniture.
3. Sanding Smooth
Next comes the sanding — and lots of it. Every edge, every surface, every joint gets smoothed down. We want that silky finish you can feel when you run your hand across the top. This step makes a huge difference in how the final piece looks and feels.

4. Stain and Clear Coats
Once it’s perfectly sanded, it’s ready for color.
We apply the chosen stain to bring out the wood’s natural character — whether it’s a rich brown, a light natural tone, or a soft neutral finish. Then we add several coats of lacquer to protect the surface and give it that clean, durable sheen.
While the finish is drying, we work on the drawers.

5. Crafting the Drawers
Each drawer is cut, assembled, and fitted to glide perfectly into place. We take extra time to match the wood grain on the drawer fronts so everything looks consistent once the piece is assembled.
6. Final Assembly
Once the stain and clear coats are cured, we put it all together. The slats go on first — they’re what give the Sullo its signature texture and depth. Then we install the drawers, add the hardware and pulls, and check every detail to make sure it’s perfect.

7. Ready for Its New Home
Finally, each Sullo Console is carefully wrapped — plastic wrapped and blanket wrapped — so it’s fully protected for delivery. Once it’s loaded onto the truck, it’s on its way to its new home, ready to make a statement in someone’s space.

Built by Hand, Built to Last
Every Sullo Console Table we make carries a bit of us with it — the craftsmanship, the teamwork, and the pride that comes from building something that will last for years. From the first cut to the final polish, it’s a process rooted in care and attention to detail.
