The Story of Our Trailers: From Open Bed to Full Wrap

When we started The Woodhills, we were delivering entry tables and American flags in the back of my truck bed—no trailer, no fancy rig, just hustling.
A couple of years in, that started to change.
One of my old coworkers from Home Depot named David (yes, another David!) mentioned he was selling his 10-foot open trailer. The second I saw it, I knew I couldn’t miss out. I was so amazed by the possibilities—what we could move, how we could deliver, the feeling of taking control of our customer experience.
I bought it on the spot. That trailer became a workhorse for us. We made countless local deliveries with it—sofa tables, entry tables, small dining sets. I remember the longest trip we took with it was about three hours away, and it felt like a big milestone. I was proud of that trailer.
But like everything in this business, we eventually outgrew it.
During COVID, orders started growing in both size and distance. We were building large 60" and 72" round dining tables, 10-foot tables, and heavier pieces that needed real protection. That’s when I bought my first enclosed trailer—a 16-footer. She was beautiful. At the time, business was taking off and that trailer felt like the next chapter for us. It wasn’t just about moving furniture anymore—it was about delivering an experience.
We still kept the open trailer for smaller or nearby deliveries, but the enclosed one changed everything. Especially after we had it wrapped by my neighbor at the shop—something I had dreamed about since day one. Driving down the road with our logo proudly displayed felt surreal. It wasn’t just a trailer—it was our mobile showroom.
But nothing lasts forever.
In the summer of 2023, after a full Saturday of deliveries, we were driving back to the shop in Denton until the roof of the trailer ripped open on the highway—literally peeled back like a can of tuna. The roof was flapping on the side wall, and though we tried to fix it, it just wasn’t the same. That trailer had done its job. It was time for something new.
About two weeks later, my good friend (and yes, another David) helped me find our next rig: a 20-foot enclosed trailer. And this thing was a killer beast.
We still use it for deliveries today. It’s reliable, it’s clean, and it can carry the biggest tables we make. Next up? We plan to get it wrapped just like the last one. But beyond that, we’ve got big dreams—more trailers, trucks, maybe even a van or two. Each one is a tool to help us serve more people and deliver more of what we love building.
Every chapter in this journey just gets more exciting. From a secondhand open trailer to a full fleet someday—this is how we grow. One piece, one delivery, one trailer at a time.
