Bringing Custom Nightstands to Life: A Special Delivery to California

One of the best parts about what we do at The Woodhills is the opportunity to create truly custom pieces that become part of someone’s home story. Recently, we had the pleasure of building six WH nightstands for an amazing client in California. He’s trusted us with multiple pieces over time, but today, we’re sharing a closer look at these nightstands — and the journey they took from our shop in Texas all the way to his home.
A Hands-On Process
Every project that leaves our shop goes through many stages, each one carefully carried out by our team. From the first cuts to prepping, jointing, and glue-ups, to assembly, staining, and finishing, every hand in our shop plays a role. Each step is an important part of making sure the piece not only looks beautiful, but is also built to last.
These nightstands are no exception. They carry the same level of care, detail, and craftsmanship that we put into every project — a reflection of the pride our team takes in building furniture by hand.
A Special Delivery
For this project, we wanted to make the experience even more personal. David, owner of The Woodhills, actually made the trip himself to California to hand-deliver the nightstands and help set them up in the client’s home. While most out-of-state orders are shipped through our delivery partners, this one felt different.
Usually, we don’t get the chance to see our furniture once it’s in place, styled, and lived with. But standing in the client’s home and seeing how these nightstands fit perfectly into his vision was a moment that meant a lot to us. It’s one thing to see photos in the shop; it’s another to see the pieces where they belong, bringing a room to life.
Why It Matters
Furniture is more than wood and stain. It’s a part of someone’s daily life — where they place their favorite books, a glass of water before bed, or the lamp they turn off at night. Knowing that we could be a part of that experience for our client makes all the effort worthwhile.
We’re grateful for every order, every detail, and every chance to bring our craft into someone’s home — near or far.
